Puppy Social Hour

Setting Your Puppy Up for Success

What to Expect

Who is Puppy Social Hour for?

Puppy Social Hour is for puppies 8-24 weeks of age. There are no size restrictions, though we will try to pair up like-sizes and play styles during group play. All puppies must be up to date on age appropriate vaccines and have been dewormed. The class will meet twice a week for four weeks.

I have to say this class with these wonderful dog training ladies was so worth it. We learned so much to get our puppies to a great start! Trust me we have a long way to go; but we now have a good foundation how to correct and praise our puppies.

I definitely recommend this for all new puppy owners!

All our puppies Gracie, Milo, Jax, and of course our Josie enjoyed this and they couldn’t wait to get into the building to see these dog trainers and their fur friends! It was a lot of fun!

Your puppy will be learning a lot of valuable skills during this program! Here’s a breakdown of what you and your puppy can expect:

  • Social Skills: Your puppy will interact with other dogs and people, which will help them learn how to be well-adjusted and friendly. This socialization helps prevent fear-based behaviors and ensures your puppy grows into a confident adult.

  • Impulse Control: Through fun and interactive play, your puppy will start to understand how to manage their impulses. This includes not darting out open doors, not stealing food, and managing their excitement around new stimuli.

  • Emotional Regulation: Your puppy will be exposed to various sounds, sights, and surfaces, which will help them stay calm and balanced in different environments. This exposure is crucial for preventing anxiety and developing a stable temperament.

  • Basic Cues and Skills: While the focus isn’t on advanced obedience, your puppy will learn some foundational commands and skills. These include:

    • Recall: Coming when called.

    • Sit and Place: Basic positioning commands that help with control and structure.

    • Hand Targets: Using your hand as a guide to build confidence and communication.

  • Foundation for Future Training: With these basics in place, you’ll have a strong foundation to build upon. Once your puppy has mastered these fundamentals, you can move on to more advanced obedience training, like teaching “down” and “stay.”

Overall, the goal is to ensure that your puppy grows into a well-behaved, confident, and emotionally balanced adult dog.
